Suzuki Violin and Piano Lessons in my home.

HELLO NORTH CAROLINA!

Miss Meredith, NYC 2011

From NYC to Raleigh...

Music has been the center of my life since as long as I can remember.  For the past 32 years, both as a student and as a teacher. I have had the honor to work, play and create with incredibly talented musicians and artists who have all shaped me into the person I am today.

I grew up in a strong Suzuki Community in Ann Arbor Michigan since the age of 5, studying both piano and violin. I went on to graduate from Boston University with a degree in film production where I incorporated my background in music with film scoring and played with several University Orchestras.  I then quickly headed to New York City. I began playing electric violin in a rock band, taught in every borough and expanded myself both as a performer and as a teacher.  This method has given me the ability to play anywhere and with anyone. To improv as well as become a studio musician, to play in classical quartets, hip-hop shows, metal bands, and everything in between.

I love performing with my folk garage band Magpie Feast, but teaching is my calling. This is what I was meant to do with my life. Over the last 10 years I have worked with students in private home settings, nonprofit music schools, inner-city after-school programs, a variety of public schools, as well as working for charities that raise money for these programs. Teaching in such diverse settings has enabled me to bring music into the lives of children who would not have otherwise had the opportunity.

I'm the mother of two budding musicians- 5 year old Ruthie and Audrey who just turned 9. I am also pregnant with my first son due in mid January 2022, who already listens to hours and hours of Suzuki music a day!

I wholeheartedly believe in this method and Dr. Suzuki’s vision to develop in very young children a sensitivity, discipline and endurance with music as the vehicle. We can help make not only fine musicians but also upstanding citizens, children with beautiful hearts.
